We had over 200 submissions, the festival staff selected just over 40, and the four judges selected the following best films:
Best Narrative: "Notes from the Acrid Plain with Burton Hoary Vol. 7" by Jonathan Ashley
Best Animation: "Dear Fatty" by Hsin-I Tseng
Best Experimental: " 'Charlie Rose' by Samuel Beckett" by Andrew Filippone Jr.
Best Documentary: "Forced Perspective: Odessa" byDeanna Morse
Best Local Production: "Unraveling Michelle" by Dan Shaffer.
Best of Festival: "Notes from the Acrid Plain with Burton Hoary Vol. 7" by Jonathan Ashley

All proceeds from any Moviate or MoviateSound events benefit the next Moviate Film Camp which allows at-risk youth the opportunity to make their own films. Funds are used for film, film transfer services, computer and video equipment, and guest artists. Moviate is run on a completely volunteer basis, and volunteers are always welcome to help in any way. Moviate is a non-profit film organization under the fiscal sponsorship of Berks Filmmakers, Inc. one of the longest operational independent film cooperatives in the United States.
